The Community Alliance newspaper is here for you. We are there when you need to know, or want to participate with, who is standing up for economic, social and environmental justice, immigrant rights and the homeless. We are helping to build a progressive movement in the Fresno area because when we unite and organize our world gets better.

Now is your opportunity to help us continue this important work by participating in our annual fundraiser. Learn about the challenges we face in the newspaper industry (more than 2,000 U.S. newspapers have shut down in the past 16 years), how social media has altered the way many people receive the news and our optimistic vision for the future of the Community Alliance.

Our fundraiser will happen on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. We hope you will join us as we discuss “Where Do We Go From Here?,” which will include a panel of speakers directly addressing that question. Those speakers are Fresno Unified School District Trustee Veva Islas, Fresno County Board of Education Trustee Daren Miller, Central Valley Progressive PAC Chair Simone Cranston-Rhodes and Fresno City Council Member Miguel Arias.

Community Alliance Editor Eduardo Stanley will share our plan to expand our outreach to a younger audience through social media, expand and improve our Web site, and continue bringing you the best alternative/independent newspaper in the country.

Civil rights icon Dolores Huerta will be our keynote speaker. There will be music by Jemmy Bluestein and much more.

To join the Zoom call for the Community Alliance fundraiser, send a request to newspaper@fresnoalliance.com, and we will send you the link.

You can also gain access to the event by going to www.zoom.us and entering Meeting ID: 853 0185 1393 – Passcode: 295053

We don’t want you to wait until Dec. 12 to make this a successful fundraiser. If you are not a subscriber, use the subscription form on page 3 and join us today. If you already subscribe, send us a donation or become a monthly sustainer. Whatever you are already doing, consider increasing your support so we will not only survive but also thrive.

Here is a link where you can become a subscriber or make a donation online: https://fresnoalliance.com/subscribe/.

Do your part to make the Fresno area a better place to live. Another world is possible!
