Democratic Assembly District Elections
All California Democrats are invited to help select delegates to the California Democratic Party (CDP) in January 2019. The CDP is convening Assembly District Meetings (ADEMs) to select delegates in each of the state’s 80 Assembly Districts.
The ADEM delegates are roughly one-third of the governing body of the CDP, which is also known as the Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC). The DSCC is made up of approximately 3,200 members.
Together, these delegates vote and conduct business at the yearly state conventions, including the election of CDP officers, the election of regional directors, CDP legislative endorsements, ballot proposition endorsements, CDP resolutions and the CDP platform.
Each Assembly District will elect 14 Democrats (equally divided by gender) to be members of the DSCC delegation for the 2019–2021 term. They will represent their Assembly District for both the 2019 and 2020 state conventions.
Persons interested in becoming an ADEM delegate applied in December 2018, and registered Democratic voters in the Assembly District may vote for the delegates in their respective Assembly District. The ADEMs for the Central Valley are as follows:

March Elections
Local elections will be held on March 5 to fill the Board of Supervisors (BOS) District 2 that became available when Andreas Borgeas was elected to the State Senate in November and for the Clovis City Council.
Three candidates qualified for the BOS seat: Nasreen Johnson, a Democrat who ran for the Fresno Unified School District in 2018; Steve Brandau, a Republican and self-described Tea Party leader, who currently serves on the Fresno City Council; and Steve Hosey, a local developer and former pro baseball player.
Four candidates filed for the Clovis City Council—all Republicans: Maeketah Rivera, Drew M. Bessinger, Jose “Joe” Flores and Bob Whalen.
