The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee (FCDCC) and the California Democratic Council (CDC) are sponsoring a Democratic Leadership Training. This full day of intense training includes a variety of workshops intended for club/party leaders and activists who want to advance their leadership roles in the Democratic Party or are just getting started in politics.

The Democratic Leadership Training will take place on Saturday, August 20, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the SEIU Local 521 Union Hall at 5228 E. Pine Ave. in Fresno.

“This next election season will be tougher than usual for Democrats as we deal with new districts and open primaries,” says Henry Vandermeir, president of the CDC. “If you’ve been ‘meaning’ to get involved, we need your help now more than ever!”

The training is free and a light breakfast and lunch will be provided. A donation of $10 is suggested to help cover food and materials.

Participants will have the option to enroll in the new ACT (Activist Certification Training) program—a project designed to provide a network of certified activists for progressive campaigns, candidates and the Democratic Party.

Help continue the trainings by being a sponsor of this event: Activist $50, Supporter $100, Organizer $250 or Leader $500.

Seating is limited, so attendees are encouraged to register early. Register and/or become a sponsor at www.cdc-ca.org/Training/.

Tentative topics for the training are as follows:

  • The California Democratic Party Structure
  • How to Run a Meeting: Robert’s Rules of Order
  • PAC Finances: How to Stay Out of Jail
  • Fund-Raising Fundamentals and Projects
  • Increasing and Keeping Volunteers/Members
  • Effective Use of Media
  • Technology and Organizing
  • Using Voter Files

The CDC is the statewide umbrella organization for California’s Democratic clubs. It provides training, operational best practices guidance and a variety of services to help clubs and county committees grow and prosper.

As the official representative of the California Democratic Party in Fresno County, the FCDCC promotes and supports the ideals, principles, goals, interests and values of the Democratic Party at the local level. To learn more about its activities, visit www.fcdcc.org.
