It Has Happened!

One Woman

Not even a planet is big enough for two egos such as those of Trump and Elon Musk. It was just a matter of time, how long it would take for the two supposedly working together to blow up attacking each other. This might be one of those times when we say those two deserve each other but we don’t deserve them.

It was inevitable sooner or later. And it was not pretty. The one thing the two were good at was admiring themselves. Alas, it is extremely important we make a long careful assessment before we get too joyful.

We are not dealing here with normal men waiting to serve their nation with its checks and balances that have long kept us the greatest democracy in the world designed to offer a refuge for the world’s downtrodden.

These are men who have clearly demonstrated that serving themselves is all that matters. Worse yet, those elected to preserve these safeguards have completely abandoned the responsibility that they swore to uphold. Then let us not forget that only one of these men was actually elected to office, and he seems to have a warped view of the job.

These are grave times when one party seems to be totally engrossed in enriching its members. All those documents so long guiding and protecting us are completely useless if totally ignored by those supposed to enforce them. A sheet of paper does not stand alone.

Taking a look at our internal government or our worldwide involvement is hardly reassuring, not worthy of the high expectations of our forefathers as they envisioned the ā€œnew world.ā€ It is an unholy combination of our current Congress and the Trump-Musk duo.

Domestically, none of our three bodies designed to limit power of either one seems to have any serious concern for the ordinary citizens as they cut all programs designed to assist in providing the necessities of life.

At the same time, these programs enrich the already rich who need no help. Obviously, they have helped themselves sometimes honorably and sometimes otherwise. At any rate, they can only consume so much wealth even using it to buy power.

Difficult as it is to believe, this nation is currently pulling up the drawbridge now that we are here. With the exception of the Native Americans, we are all immigrants but apparently have forgotten just why our ancestors sought this haven. We are not even bothering to trust and reassure those who have long lived established lives of good citizenship if they dare to have a tint in their skin color.

And this is the nation offering lots of talk about making amends for previous actions belittling another racial group. Strange way of doing it by demeaning those making a tortuous journey seeking refuge from lives in conditions horrifying beyond belief.

Now we have a president celebrating his birthday with a massive parade signifying our military might, but it is how we use that military regardless of the leadership of the two egomaniacs whether they are together or separate that we had best be concerned.

Military might is meant to protect a nation, but we need to take a serious look at what kind of nation we are protecting under this leadership. These two men do not appear much different from others who have used their access to the military to seize control.

Not long ago, we would have said it cannot happen here but with the abuse of the documents that allowed us this assurance we are entirely too close to destruction especially when the National Guard and military are arresting our own citizens including elected lawmakers just because they dare to disagree with this egomaniac president.

It would be frightening enough if just within our borders, but our reach is extensive. Looking at the relationship between us and the former Soviet Union, we are most justified in our support of Ukraine; however, the ā€œon again, off againā€ Trump/Putin relationship is hardly reassuring to settle the unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

With good intentions of atoning for our mistake with the Jews in World War II, we set up Israel with no consideration of how the occupants of that land would accept our religious justification. Once again, we did not learn from our unequal treatment of various groups within our own nation’s development.

As we provide the foundation with military might we have not had much more control over Israel’s current government than of our own. No matter who is at fault for the Gaza/Israel conflict, how can we in good conscience have let Gaza be so devastated?

At this writing, Israel has acted on its oft-stated threat of bombing Iran. Do we think Iran is going to accept that we were pure? We did not tell them to do it, but all along in the ongoing threats we have been considered the power behind Israel.

At this point, I don’t know if we should be most fearful of Iran, Israel or our own government given the complete handover of power to the President by his party.

At this writing, Israel has begun the long-feared bombing of Iran. It has not been an easy life for Israel, but what did we expect? The history of our nation indicates that we would have reacted in much the same way, but that does not make it right.

Yes, Trump and Musk broke up. Trump and Putin might yet make a clean break as their egos clash. Then there is Israel’s current prime minister and our president? Letting men such as these lead puts us in danger that we cannot contemplate, but we are too close for comfort. What next?
