ACEL Fresno Charter High School students have created a great opportunity for youth to get involved in a film festival to identify solutions to the water crisis. We have been in a drought for three years and will likely continue this year. This affects our food supply, jobs, health and the environment, as well as the availability of clean water.
Youth should get involved in this crisis. The consequences are far greater for us because we will be the ones having to suffer the long-term effects. If we cannot get this situation under control, wells will dry up, we will not have enough water for basic needs, food prices will go up and animals will die. Our future is at stake.
How is it possible for youth to help with a complicated crisis? We can do research and create outstanding videos to make the public aware of this crisis and potential solutions. We can find ways to conserve our water and document ways to use water more efficiently. We can get involved in the Brighter Future Film Festival. Winning videos will be premiered in November at Warnors Theater in downtown Fresno and on local television.
