The third annual Women’s March drew more than 1,000 people who support women’s rights, as well as human rights, to the streets of Fresno. The Truth to Power-themed demonstration on Jan. 19 featured a rally, a march, tables with information from community organizations and artistic performances. The powerful lineup of speakers included Calif. Senator Melissa Hurtado (D-Sanger), and a speech by Aileen Rizo, who received a favorable ruling in her fight for Equal Pay last year in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The Supreme Court is considering taking up the case this year.

The event was coordinated by volunteers and organizers relied on donations from the community to pay for logistics, including permits, insurance, sound and stage. A GoFundMe page raised $1,440 of a $3,000 goal to pay for the event, which was held in the corner of Nees and Blackstone avenues.
