Dolores Huerta Exhibit at the California Museum until July 7
On March 9, the California Museum in Sacramento launched “Dolores Huerta: Revolution in the Fields/Revolución en los Campos,” an exhibition inspired by “One Life: Dolores Huerta” at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery. The new bilingual exhibit, which was organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES), features artifacts on loan from Huerta’s personal collection and other institutions, reproductions of historic photographs, a documentary video and a smartphone audio tour application.
The California Museum’s installation will take place through July 7 illustrating Huerta’s activism over more than 60 years and the history of California’s farmworkers movement in the 1960s and 1970s.
Dolores Huerta Day
Members of the public are invited to celebrate California’s first annual Dolores Huerta Day on Wednesday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the California Museum in Sacramento. Declared by former Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. in 2018, Dolores Huerta Day recognizes the legendary Latina’s lifelong work as a labor leader and civil rights activist while encouraging Californians to participate in a day of community service. Highlights include free admission to “Dolores Huerta: Revolution in the Fields/Revolución en los Campos,” hands-on activities and more. DHF Seeking Youth Nominations for Civic Leadership Program
The Dolores Huerta Foundation is seeking nominations for youth prepared to learn and build their leadership skills in a society that is engaging in one of the most important civic moments of our generation. Youth have the opportunities to meet local, state and national leaders to build their professionalism and public speaking skills and participate in civic classes to develop their understanding of historical social movements that have led to the policies affecting our communities today through our democratic civic institutions.
