September 8 Endorsement Meeting

The next CVPPAC meeting will be September 8 at 2 p.m. at Studio 65, 2965 N. Maroa Ave., Fresno. The purpose of the meeting will be to select candidates to endorse in the November general election. You must be a member of the CVPPAC to attend and vote. Races we will consider include the following:

Fresno City Council Districts 3, 5 & 7

Fresno Unified School District Areas 1, 3, 4 & 7

Congressional Districts 21 & 22

Fresno County Board of Education Areas 1 & 4

State Center Community College District Areas 1, 4 & 5

Questionnaires to the candidates, asking them where they stand on important issues, will be sent on August 24 and their responses will be posted to the CVPPAC Web site prior to the September 8 meeting. At that meeting, CVPPAC members will discuss the candidates and vote to select which ones to endorse. To win an endorsement, candidates must receive two-thirds of the votes at the meeting. No proxy votes are allowed because we want members to vote for candidates after listening to the discussion about who to support.

In addition to deciding which candidates to endorse, we will determine how much money (if any) to give our endorsed candidates. We will also talk about other ways to support the candidates such as walking precincts and phone banking.

If you have any questions, call CVPPAC President Pam Whalen at 559-994-9390 or visit www.cvppac.org.
