On May 1, 2010, the undocumented turned out en masse to express their greatest dream: finding the path to legalization. Fresno area citizens and progressive organizations also lent their voices in support. The Comite Primero de Mayo/May Day Committee for Immigration Reform gives a heartfelt thanks to the Fresno community for the overwhelming response to the call to action. Immigration Reform continues to be an uphill struggle, made more difficult by political candidates who have chosen to focus their campaigns on the most vulnerable among us instead of the important issues of our times. But the unity and determination displayed on May 1 provides hope that the elusive dream of a normal life for millions will someday be realized. The Comite continues to plan the next steps in the struggle for true and lasting immigration reform and invites the community to continue to be informed and involved.
