No Kings Day, March 28, was the largest national protest in American history, bringing out as many as 9 million people in more than 3,300 separate actions. In Fresno, more than 5,000 came out to the sidewalks of Blackstone Avenue between Alluvial and Nees avenues, a stretch of about half a mile. A smaller demonstration in Clovis brought out several hundred.

The most striking feature of the demonstration were the signs held aloft by protesters. They were mostly handcrafted and expressed many tendencies and feelings within the resistance movement.

One said ā€œAll of my outrage cannot fit on this sign,ā€ while another said, ā€œWhen tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty!!ā€

ā€œI’m an introvert,ā€ said another, ā€œI’d like to be home with my cats, but I hate Fascism more!ā€

And then there was one woman whose sign read, ā€œAmerica if we don’t hold signs, that’s not a good sign.ā€
