Good Guy Mike Rhodes
I was at the National Women’s Political Caucus luncheon on September 12 where longtime Community Alliance editor and activist Mike Rhodes was honored with the “Good Guy” award. Later, when I opened my September issue of the newspaper, there Mike was along with a history and photos of his early work. Over the years, his work has centered on the unhoused, tenants’rights, feeding the hungry, gun and domestic violence, ICE concentration camps, the threat of AI to our water, air and jobs—it is hard to find a pressing issue that Mike has not touched. His daughter, Simone Rhodes-Whalen accepted the award on behalf of her father. True to his spirit, she asked us all in attendance to peacefully act. Thank you, to the extraordinary Mike Rhodes.
