Stated Philosophically:
It is better to be a Samurai/Warrior in a Bonsai Garden than a Bonsai Master/Non Samurai/Warrior in a Just War. I would also argue that the dialectic of the threat of war says you can be both a Samurai/Warrior and a Bonsai Master protecting your Bonsai garden and your nation.
