As a long-time admirer of the Community Allianceās work, it is a great honor to step into the role of editor, especially as we approach the paperās 30th anniversary this September.
I come to this position with a history of my own in organizing around political issues, and what that work has taught me is that the best efforts in any movement are shaped by communication and relationships. This philosophy aligns with the ethos of the Community Alliance: the Central Valley community coming together to tell their stories and speak the truth in a media landscape growing ever more hostile to those efforts. I am proud to be continuing that mission.
I am already connecting with our writers and staff, and I hope to connect with our readers as well, fostering an environment that keeps the Community Alliance alive and well for decades to come, able to tell the important stories that make up this valley we call home.
It is my personal mission in this position to help further establish the Community Alliance as the news source the Central Valley can trust: a source delivering quality journalism through print and digital means, unshaken by corporatocracy and not beholden to those who would seek to silence our voices.
I have many plans for this paper, but as I said, this work begins with relationships. I want to introduce myself as someone who will help your stories be told, and I am excited to hear you tell them.
